Access resources that are typically available in low income countries/low-middle income countries (LIC/LMICs), such as WHO’s Hinari online library
Choose, innovate, and utilize cost-effective tests and tools in low-resource settings, including diagnostic imaging, on site labs, and rapid tests.
Describe important WHO/UNICEF programs/protocols and understand the importance of systems-based, integrated approaches to care, including:
IMCI (Integrated Management of Childhood Illness)
Extended Programme for Immunizations (EPI; EPI-Plus)
Syndromic Management of STIs
Describe public health “best buys” of prevention in LRS including: Immunizations (EPI), Trauma & head injury prevention, Access to clean water, Undernutrition screening and prevention, Cancer prevention and screening
Recognize the heightened importance of physical exam skills, expanded differential diagnosis, mental health awareness, and cultural values recognition and awareness of corruption in care in low-resource settings and LIC/LMICs.
