Welcome to the Primary Care for Patients with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Elective

Description

The Primary Care for Patients with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Elective is an introductory rotation to the care for patients with a variety of developmental and intellectual disabilities in the outpatient setting. Throughout the course, residents will have the opportunity to provide direct medical care as well as participate in off-site experiences including visiting group homes and workshops, attending specialty medical and psychiatric clinics, etc.

One month prior to the rotation, residents will meet with Dr. Lauren Wang to discuss specific goals and interests, providing opportunities to adapt the rotation to the specific learning needs. Residents may adapt to permit time for project time, increase clinical opportunities, or modification of clinical opportunities (increased psych for example). Below is a schedule template which can be modified as needed to meet resident's learning goals.

The Primary Care for Patients with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Elective is offered for all second year and up residents as either a 2-week block or longitudinal elective. If interested, please submit a request form!
