Welcome to the Maternity Care rotation!

The Maternity Care Rotation will be a challenging, yet very exciting and rewarding opportunity to acquire the essential knowledge and skills to care for women and their families during some of the most important times of their lives.  The primary focus during this rotation will be the care of the woman during the intrapartum period, including labor and birth, along with the immediate postpartum period while in the hospital. This rotation will take place at The Christ Hospital Birth Center located on the 9th floor of the hospital. While on your maternity care rotation, you will continue to also be actively working in the FMC as well as the Prenatal Clinic, seeing some patients individually as well as others in a Centering Group. This will allow for continuity of care for our patients during their pregnancies.

As part of your training, you will work closely with the maternity faculty listed below. Your physician and midwife faculty are Board Certified and provide unique individual maternity care with a family centered approach to parenthood. We believe that all women deserve personal attention during prenatal visits, as well as labor/birth, and the postpartum period. They are encouraged to be an active participant and partner in the maternity care they receive.

Along with your maternity faculty, you will also work in collaboration with several local Ob-Gyn Physicians in the area. They assist in the care of our patients when or if they become high risk or if they desire permanent sterilization post partum. Additionally, there may be times that consultation and collaboration occurs with The University of Cincinnati's Maternal Fetal Medicine Department.
