Resident Impairment and Duty Hours
/Recognizing impairment is an important skill to develop for all physicians. If you recognize yourself becoming impaired due to fatigue, stress, work load, or other medical or psychiatric reasons, please report this immediately to your supervisor. Remember, impairment is all about your safety and the safety of your patients. Impairment means much more than simply duty hours and you can be fully compliant with duty hours and still be impaired.
