Describe epidemiology of child and adolescent health and survival globally, emphasizing under-5 years (Schubert’s Aug 2020 Slides 3-26, 28ff)
Understand principles of management and their related protocols/guidelines for high-burden childhood illnesses in low resource settings: 1) Outpatient Scabies, Diarrhea, Pneumonia (See Intro to ID)(remind re: IMCI); 2) the acutely ill/hospitalized child (ETAT, WHO Care of Hospitalized Child) (Conditions to highlight: Rheumatic Heart Disease/Congenital Heart Disease, Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM))
Compare UNICEF/EPI-Plus and Guatemala vaccine schedules with the US child vaccine schedule (with Measles as a highlighted example).
Describe causes of neonatal mortality and reduction of mortality through the protocols of Helping Babies Survive
