OBJECTIVES:
Describe and discuss key values and features of Mayan culture and history as described in I, Rigoberta Menchu.
Evaluate the interaction of “western” culture and high-income countries/governments with a traditional, tribal culture in a low-income country.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Open the reading and reflection guide below and read the selections. Read the attached PDF of selections from the book, or check out a copy of I, Rigoberta Menchu from the Global Health library (or alternatively, check out a copy from the local library or purchase a used/new copy from a bookstore). TCH/UC Residents, please take notes and be ready to discuss the reflection guide questions (You do not need to submit a 1-page reflection since a discussion is scheduled). UC COM Students, please complete the 1-page reflection assignment described in the guide and email it to your course instructor.
This module should take around 2.5 hours to complete.
