OBJECTIVES:
Define the discipline of Global Health
List and define key concepts in Global Health (Equity, Reciprocity, Transnational, Interdisciplinary, Collaborative, Complementary, Sustainable, Intersection of individual and public health)
Identify key historical documents in Global Health (UN Declaration of Human Rights, Article 25; Alma Ata Declaration 1978; WHO
Understand meaning or contrast of key terms including “International/Global”, “Developing/Developed/Least Developed”, “Third World”, “Low Income Country/LIC, Middle/MIC, High/HIC, Low & Middle/LMIC”
Define the roles of important agencies in Global Health including: UN, WHO, World Bank, IMF, Bilateral Aid Organizations, Non-Government Organizations
INSTRUCTIONS:
WATCH the "Introduction to Global Health Powerpoint" (a PDF of the video slides is also available as a reference). Then READ the two attachments. Note-taking is encouraged. After completing the assignments, take your MODULE QUIZ, which will be automatically submitted to the course instructor. This module should take around 1 hour to complete.
