OBJECTIVES:
Understand how the history and epidemiology of Malaria informs current approaches to infectious disease and disease eradication.
Describe the pathophysiology/species, primary clinical features, diagnosis, and WHO-guidelines for management of Falciparum and other Malarial diseases.
Describe options for the cost-effective prevention of Malaria.
List integrated approaches and programs aimed at decreasing the worldwide burden of malaria.
Describe the prevention, key features, and management of other important mosquito borne tropical diseases including Dengue Fever, Chikungunya, Zika, Japanese Encephalitis, and Yellow Fever.
INSTRUCTIONS:
WATCH the "Malaria and Mosquito Borne Diseases" video presentations (Parts 1 and 2). Note taking is encouraged. Then SKIM the Lancet article on Malaria using the “Malaria Reading Guide Worksheet” to help you focus on key learning points (Answering the questions is recommended, but not required; you do not need to submit your worksheet). Then, take your MODULE QUIZ, which will be automatically submitted to the course instructor.
