OBJECTIVES:

  1. Summarize the most common causes of maternal mortality worldwide

  2. Discuss the impact of maternal mortality on families and communities

  3. Analyze interventions that address maternal mortality, including post-partum hemorrhage

INSTRUCTIONS:

Watch the "Maternal Mortality in Global Health” video series (The third video, Interventions for the Prevention of Maternal Mortality” is required for TCH/UC Residents but optional for UC COM Students). Optionally, if time allows, you may also wish to read through the entire “Maternal Mortality, AAFP 2013 Global Health Workshop Presentation" slide presentation (You will, however, need to skim this document while completing your module quiz). Next, review Table 1 from "Strategies for Addressing Maternal Mortality" to see the overall recommended interventions in the antepartum and intrapartum periods to reduce maternal mortality. After completing the assignments, take your MODULE QUIZ, referencing the documents as needed. The quiz will be automatically submitted to the course instructor.

This module should take around 1-1.5 hours to complete.
