Pediatric Anticipatory Guidance in the Global Health Setting
OBJECTIVES:
Explore the significance and importance of providing pediatric anticipatory guidance – with a special emphasis on the population we serve in Guatemala.
Review key components of delivering effective anticipatory guidance.
Discuss culturally-adapted anticipatory guidance – in particular, review the “Consejos” which have been tailored for use with indigenous Guatemalan populations.
Explain the TCHUCFM medical student/resident role in providing pediatric anticipatory guidance.
INSTRUCTIONS:
An important component of pediatric care is providing guidance to families to support their child’s health, safety and development. This module provides a brief overview of how we can integrate culturally effective anticipatory guidance into the care we provide in the global health setting.
This module should take around 1 hour to complete.
